    School Vision

Burford is a happy, safe school where our passion for learning is lived through our Christian values.

    At Burford we are:

    Rooted in Love

    Becoming Me

    and

    Flourishing Together

    Vision Summary

The oak tree is the traditional symbol of Burford C of E Primary. From the real tree in the playground to the trees displayed on our logos it epitomises who we are. Our community tends to be a settled one. Generations have been sheltered under the boughs of the tree as generations have been cared for by the family ethos of our school. As our children grow the love, trust and support of those Christian roots enable them to find the courage to flourish in God’s world.

    Vision Statement

As a Christian school through our ‘Heads, Hearts and Hands’ varied and rich curriculum we inspire the children at Burford to be Rooted in Love, Growing in Trust, Blossoming with Courage, prepared to flourish in God’s World. We want our children to leave us prepared and excited for their futures.

Through our vision we have the following biblical references.

Rooted in Love ‘Love always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres’ Corinthians chpt 13:v7

Growing in Trust ‘Trust in your unfailing love.’ Psalm 13: v5

Blossoming with Courage ‘Do not be afraid, just believe.’ Gospel Of mark chpt5:v36

Thank you to the carers in our community.

Each year we take part in the Christmas tree Festival at our church, St Mary’s Burford. As part of it we decorate a tree each year. This year Worship Group wanted to do something a bit different. They thought about the people in our local community who care for us and our families and community during the Christmas period and wanted to say ‘Thank you.’ Each class decorated a box and filled it with gifts for the staff and organisations to enjoy (coffee, tea, chocolate, biscuits etc). They were then displayed at the church in a shape to represent a tree. In the New Year we then handed them out to the different organisations. Some of the different organisations attended our Praise Assembly to receive their gifts. We gave them to Tenbury Hospital, Tenbury Firs Station, Sovereign Care, St Mary’s Church, Burford, The Old Rectory and Haresbrook Care Homes.

    Our Flourishing Crew

As a Church of England School, we try to live by our Christian values.  To help us with this, volunteers from Years 5 and 6 meet every two weeks to organise worship in our school, leading one assembly each term and jointly deciding on the focus value for each half-term.  When the school holds a worship assembly in the church, the Flourishing Crew are also invited to take part in it.

Members of the Flourishing Crew have worked with Reverend Sian to write a lovely prayer incorporating our core values:-

    Dear God

As we are rooted in love, growing and trust, blossoming in courage, please help us to live with these values throughout our lives

    Amen

    SIAMS Report

A SIAMS inspection (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) took place at Burford CofE Primary School in November 2019.

We are delighted with our latest SIAMS report, November 2019. The new framework has one question to ask and looks at this through 7 different strands. The question is 'How effective is the school's distinctive Christian vision, established and promoted by leadership at all levels, in enabling pupils and adults to flourish?' Some quotes from the report are:-

'Burford is a welcoming, inclusive and vibrant school.'

'The school's leadership is driven to strive for excellence...'

'The school prioritises the support given to pupils' mental health, resilience and wellbeing.'
